Buying advice

Budget for the task, not the silhouette

A humanoid's price says little about whether it can do your job. Before comparing figures, write down the task, the weight it must handle, how long it must run between charges and who will program it. A lower-priced model can be the right buy for teaching, research or front-of-house demonstrations, where you expect to build the behaviours yourself. A workplace pilot needs a separate budget line, because integration, safety review and staff time often cost more than the robot. On the October 2026 review, prices shown here started near $700 with the Robosen Optimus Prime and climbed to near $60,000 with the Xiaomi CyberOne, and another three were quote-only.

Work out the cost per useful hour

Battery life shapes value more than the sticker does. In its analysis of humanoid scaling, IEEE Spectrum reported that Agility keeps a reserve of charge in Digit so the robot never stops in the middle of a task, which means usable working time is shorter than headline runtime. Ask each maker for runtime while carrying your typical load, recharge time, the price of a spare pack and the cycle rating of each battery. Then add chargers, docking and floor space to keep a robot working through a shift. A cheaper unit that spends long stretches charging can cost more per useful hour than a dearer one.

Compare buying with a monthly service fee

Some makers now offer workplace humanoids as a service as well as for sale. IEEE Spectrum reported in September 2026 that Agility planned to offer Digit 5 to customers as a service at something like $8,500 per month, a useful yardstick when you weigh a fee against owning outright. Owning means adding warranty extensions, spare hands, insurance and your own maintenance time to the listed price. A service fee usually folds those in, so ask exactly what it covers, how long the minimum term runs and whether you can move to a newer model mid-contract. Run both options over the period you expect to use the robot.

What to look for

  • Whether the price covers hands, sensors and software, or the base robot only
  • Developer access, SDK licences and any ongoing fees
  • Shipping, setup and safety requirements before the first run

Common questions

How much does a humanoid robot cost?

It varies widely by size, capability and maker. Compare listed prices across the humanoids here, and request a quote for any model that doesn't show one.

Why are some humanoids quote only?

Many full-size humanoids are configured to order, so the maker prices each deal. Your quote request reaches The Humanoid Group with your requirements attached.
