Entry-Level Robots
Every robot category has a cheapest way in. These are the lowest listed prices we tracked in October 2026, category by category, with the compromises that tend to come with them and the questions that separate a sensible starter from false economy.

Starting prices across the main categories
Listed prices in October 2026 show how low each category starts. Robot animals began at $10 with the Hexbug Nano, education robots at $20 with the Micro:bit and companion robots at $30 with the Chippies. Smart wearables started at $49 with the Bee AI Pendant, and home robots at $250, a price shared by the iRobot Roomba 105 Vac, the HOBOT 388 and the Ring Always Home Cam. The cheapest humanoid was the Robosen Optimus Prime at $700, and the cheapest rehabilitation device the Hypershell X Series at $799. Farm robots opened at $200 with the Halter Solar Cow Collar, while construction robots started far higher, at $35,000 for both the Brokk 90 and the Flyability Elios 3.
Toy-priced robots and what drops out
At the very bottom of the range, a robot is often closer to a toy or a teaching board than to a working machine. In October 2026 the Hexbug Spider was listed at $25, the Ozobot Bit at $50 and the Zoomer Kitty at $80, prices that put them among toys and learning kits, so judge them on durability, battery type, app support and how much a child can actually program or explore. In the United States, 16 CFR Part 1250 makes the ASTM F963-23 toy safety standard mandatory for toys, so ask for test evidence covering the exact product, especially when buying cheap imports or class sets. Spare parts and replacement batteries matter more than features once a toy has been dropped a few times.
Budget home robots depend on their app
The cheapest home robots in October 2026 included the iRobot Roomba 105 Vac and HOBOT 388 at $250, the LawnMaster OcuMow 16 at $300 and the Proscenic M9 at $350. At that level, compare what comes in the box rather than the headline price: the charging dock, mapping, mopping, room-by-room control and how long the maker supports the app. A connected robot is only as dependable as the company behind its software. IEEE Spectrum reported in December 2025 that iRobot had filed for bankruptcy and that its assets, including its app infrastructure, were passing to its manufacturing partner. Before buying any budget model, check who runs its app and cloud service today and what the robot can do without them.
Low-cost arms and humanoids are learning platforms
Robot arms and humanoids have their own entry tier. In October 2026 the Dobot Magician was listed at $1,599, the Elephant Robotics MyCobot 280 at $3,000 and the Trossen ViperX at $5,999, while humanoids such as the Noetix Bumi at $1,370, the Booster Robotics K1 Geek at $5,999 and the RoboParty ROBOTO ORIGIN at $8,000 sat well below the $39,000 Booster T1. Treat machines at these prices as platforms for teaching, research and prototyping until the maker shows otherwise. ISO 10218-1:2025, the safety standard for industrial robots, leaves consumer and service robots outside its scope, so ask each maker which safety standard its product was designed to before it goes anywhere near a production line.

Common questions
What is the cheapest robot for a business?
The lowest business listings in October 2026 were components rather than finished robots, such as the Ambarella CV5 AI Vision SoC at $80 and the Nordsense Sensor at $200, while the Parrot Mambo drone was listed at $100. Integration, software and staff time can easily cost more than hardware at that level.
Are entry-level robots good enough for a pilot project?
They can test an idea, such as whether a task suits a robot at all, but results may not carry over to industrial models. Use a low-cost unit to learn and build software skills, then repeat the key tests on the model you would actually deploy before committing a budget.
